Hi! I’m Ronda!

Greetings, All! I’m Ronda Shirley the host of the new podcast “Fear Therapy”. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I’ve always had a mixed relationship with fear. On the one hand, fear has served me well as it is a motivator like no other. On the other hand, it has kept me bound to people, situations, and events loooooonnng past their expiration dates.

One of my favorite shows in the early 2000s was “Fear Factor”. Remember it? No? Allow me to refresh your memory, if I may. Okay “Fear Factor” was part reality TV with a heaping dose of a game show. Within the show, the guests had to confront a myriad of traditional fears that extended from heights to bugs to other creepy things that went BUMP in the night. Once each task was successfully completed, the winner got a chance to say with the host “Fear is not a factor for me!” The power of this statement is that the contestants do not state that they were not afraid. Instead, they say that their fears didn’t create a strong enough barrier to prevent them from accomplishing their goals.

In short, within my field, I’ve found an enormous amount of people who have found themselves paralyzed in fear. For this reason, I’ve created this podcast. I want to acknowledge, validate and create a space for you with your fears so that you, too, can be like the guests on “Fear Factor”. I want you to say with the same confidence that the winning guest holding the $50,000.00 check “Fear is not a factor for me!”
